The 3rd Annual Lt Mark H. Dooley 5K Race (held on 10-01-11) was a great success thanks to the help and support of so many
Please join us next September!
Each year this event serves as a living tribute to Lt Mark Dooley who was killed in action on 09-19-05 while deployed to Iraq with the Vermont Army National Guard. We also remember all our fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Because of the overwhelming generosity & support of our sponsors, donors, volunteers and race participants we were able to raise just over $5000.00!
All the the 2011 race proceeds will be donated in Lt Mark Dooley's name to the Town of Wilmington, Vermont to assist in rebuilding/re-equipping the Police & Fire Departments. Both departments sustained heavy damages due to Hurricane Irene.
At the time of his deployment, Mark Dooley was a Wilmington Police Officer so I know he would be proud to be able to support his community in such a fashion.
A race day raffle was held that raised $1035.00. The proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the Brattleboro Yellow Ribbon Group (A local troop support group) and Rolling Thunder VT1 (A Veteran's Advocacy Group).
